HISTORY

The plant was founded in 1931 in Zaporozhye, Ukraine when Dnieper Hydroelectric Station was put in operation and the first tons of ferrochrome were produced followed by construction of ferrosilicon smelting workshop. First production of ferrosilicon started in 1948. The remaining 5 furnaces were put into operation before 1950. In 1955-1966 the plant put in operation: workshop N3 to increase the volume of smelting of metallic manganese, N 7 and N 8 two lime furnaces, smelting workshop N 4 with eight powerful furnaces with closed units equipped with wet gas cleaning system, high efficient dust collectors and completely automatic control system.

Today PJSC " Zaporozhye Ferroalloy Plant" (PJSC "ZFP") – is one of Europe's largest producers of ferroalloys. Total share of Zaporozhye production in world is 5.7%. The facility is conveniently located in proximity to Predneproviye raw reserves and energy resources supported by Dnieper Hydroelectric Station with the well developed transport infrastructure. The facility features 29 electric arc furnaces with a total installed capacity of 450.7 MW with sophisticated air filtering machinery. Average annual production capacity is 540 thousand tones of ferroalloys, of which approximately 85% are manganese alloys.
